Portable 12 V Entertainment Unit
Most of us want some entertainment in the bush such as music or videos. You can use your car radio (leaving the doors open and annoying your neighbours or you can give your kids your work PC to watch a video) but we thought we develop a portable, self contained 12 V system. We started with the Drifta Pantry Box (which fits nicely in a standard trailer together with the large storage box and slide out kitchen) and put in a 12 V car radio. We chose a radio that plays CDs, DVDs, IPods and has a 3.5 mm stereo jack and a USB port in. We connected this to decent car speakers and a standard auto antenna. We sourced a 16 inch high definition LCD TV and connected that to the car radio. We can now watch DVDs on the screen using the DVD function of the car radio and listen to radio and just about any audio format as input. It all runs on 12 V, connected to internal or tailgate cigarette lighter outlets. The radio draws 1 amp; radio and TV together draw 3 amps. Everything is portable and easy to store. Who said you'll have to rough it out in the bush!
