Great Aussie 9 foot tent - side fold

The Great Aussie 9' is a side folding tent with 9 ft floor space. It is made from 15 oz Australian made Dynaproof Canvas, heavy duty mesh, heavy duty zips, stitched with No 12 Poly Cotton. The large windows come with window flaps that can be converted into an additional awning. The tent is mounted on a heavy duty metal frame bed base with two personal storage compartments at the head end. The high density foam mattress is larger than a standard queen size mattress and finishes level with the bed base. The bed base is 176 cm wide and 240 cm long, about a foot longer than the average trailer base on the market. The side wall of the bed base is in a 90 degree angle, fully vertical, providing sufficient room to all sides. The fly screen is a wider mesh allowing for ample air flow. The tent ceiling is 165 cm measured from the bed base and a very high 285 cm measured from the floor (for an off road trailer). This gives the tent an airy and cool feeling in summer even with extreme outside temperatures. 

 

The heavy duty PVC floor is zipped in and can easily be removed in case of repair. The large awning is zipped for easy removal. We suggest leaving the awning zipped to the tent and flip it over to the other side for easy storage and easy set up. The internal frame is made of heavy duty galvanised poles; the poles for the awning are of light weight aluminium camlock. The tent comes with annex poles, ropes with springs and galvanised pegs for easy set up.

 

The total covered living space of the tent is about 18 square metres.

Great Aussie 12 foot tent - side fold

Great Aussie 8 foot tent - rear fold

 

Our rear fold tent is the perfect tourer for two adults or a small family who want an easy set up where internal space is less of an issue. The tent has - as our side fold tents - three internal bows but folds out to the rear end of the trailer. The annex only requires three poles and the entire tent can be set up in no time. The rear fold tent is available on an on road trailer or an off road trailer. The optional kitchen can slide out from the front side door or be fitted on the tailgate which pivots by 270 degrees.

We use Australian made, dynaproofed 15 oz canvas for the roof. The walls are available in 15 oz (for best strength and insulation) or 12 oz (to reduce the weight and facilitate set up). The bed base is the same size as in our side fold tents but the access to the bed is via the foot end.

 

 

 

Great Aussie Trailers:

 

 Our trailers are quality built with attention to detail. They come with 5 leaf eye to eye springs standard (7 or 9 leaf upgrades are available for the off road trailer). The tailgate is lockable and fully sealed with automotive seal to make it dust and water proof. All our trailers come with new tyres and rims as standard. The spare tyre is included as standard and equally comes with a new tyre and rim. The spare tyre is mounted on tailgate for better balance. This allows easier handling of the trailer and reduces the ball weight thus making towing less stressful to the vehicle. All our trailers come standard with mechanical override brakes. The off road trailer also has a Trigg Poly Bloc off road coupling as standard. We provide for all our trailers brackets for tool boxes on the drawbar and a water tank underneath the trailer as standard. This allows to easily retro-fit. Our trailers have a full 40 mm x 40 mm or 50 mm x 50 mm chassis. They are fully etch primed, double painted and coated with automatic rust fighter underneath. They are built to last. Great Aussie Walk In


.

The walk in trailer is available as either on road or off road. Building on the same 8 x 6 bed base we extend the trailer towards the drawbar by about 45 cm to provide a drop down 3 step step ladder and a walk area at the foot side of the bed. This allows to access the bed in a North - South fashion avoiding that one partner has to crawl over the other one. The walk area can also be used for storage during transport. The trailer is now longer and thus heavier but the tent is considerably larger. Ideal for a family and longer stays.


Our on road and off road trailers can be fitted with a side fold or a rear fold tent.

 

If fitted with a side fold tent, the tailgate hinges at the driver side and the spare wheel is fitted on the tailgate. Slide out or tailgate kitchen can be used.

 

If fitted with a rear fold tent, the tailgate hinges at the passenger side and can be turned 270 degrees so that it sits parallel to the side of the trailer. We suggest a Drifta or stainless steel tailgate kitchen. A front side door is available as an option to fit a slide out kitchen. The spare wheel is mounted on the drawbar.

 

Go for the 9 foot side fold tent if you do more touring and require ample floor space; go for the larger 12 foot side fold tent if you do more base camping and you require the largest possible floor space; go for the 8 foot rear fold for fastet set up where space is less of an issue.

 

Our Equipment Levels

 

The Dharug $ 12,490

 

Is based on our off road trailer and the 8' tent flips out to the rear. It comes standard with brakes, stoneguard, water tank, Drifta Tailgate kitchen, side storage boxes, Trigg Off Road Coupling, a 70 litre water tank with hand pump, and a standard aluminium chequer plate storage box. It is also available on an on road trailer for $ 11,990. This is the perfect tourer for a couple where ease of set up is more important than internal living space. In order to reduce weight and make set up just a little bit easier the walls can also be provided in 12 oz thickness instead of the standard 15 oz gauge. The spare wheel is still positioned at the rear of the trailer and swings almost 270 degrees hinging on the driver side. The tailgate is hinged on the passenger side and swings 270 degrees sitting flush with the mud guard on the passenger side, protected by the annex. The kitchen is either a standard Drifta Tailgate kitchen with return or a short, stainless Drifta Tailgate kitchen. The equipment level is thus quite similar to the Morton.

 

 

The Morton $ 11,990
Is an off road trailer as per standard specs above (also available as an on road trailer at a $ 500 discount) and comes with a 9 foot side fold tent as per specs above. The trailer is fitted with mechanical brakes and a Trigg Polybloc Coupling (standard coupling for the road trailer) and a standard checker plate lockable tool box with gas strut. In additon the Morton has a stoneguard, water tank and a standard Drifta Tailgate kitchen on a short stainless Drifta Tailgate Kitchen. For a price only slightly more than an imported tent, you get a top quality tent with a large 8 by 6 bed base, straight walls, wide mesh, high roof line, 8 foot annex, kitchen wall and mesh on a well built solid trailer with attention to detail.

 

The Yengo $ 14,990
The next level up in the comfort level with the Yengo. It builds on the Morton base (all Morton inclusions) and adds to that a a large aluminium checkerplate tool box which fits a standard generator and a Drifta Slide Out Kitchen, large Storage Box and Pantry Box. The Yengo also comes with full 12 V electrics, i.e. 3 outlets, in line fuses, a Projecta 7 Stage Mains Charger, a 100 AH AGM battery and an internal (white only) and external (white and yellow) LED light. You can upgrade to a 12 foot family tent and add the two remaining annex walls at an extra cost.  

 

The Wollemi $ 18,990

Even more comfort! Building on the Yengo the specs include electric brakes, a DO 35 Coupling, a stone guard, a 85 ltr water tank, an extra large tool box with 2 side openings, Rhino lining in the front and undercarriage (rubbery paint which withstands the stone blast during extreme off road use), a Drifta Stainless Slide out kitchen with a 3 burner stainless steel Dometic Stove & sink, a provision for a 60 litre EvaKool fridge, a large storage box with two extra drawers and a 60 litre EvaKool fridge / freezer.

 

The electric system is upgraded to 4 outlets, a fuse panel, a RedArc Battery Management System (three stage mains charger, DC to DC charger for alternator charging during transit, a solar regulator and a LCD display unit displaying unput and output volatage and AMPs, charging status, time to full charge, charging programme etc.) a 300  W pure sine inverter (for laptops and other sensitive electronic equipment), 1 internal and 2 external LED lights, a 180 AH AGM battery and a 120 W solar panel.

 

 

The Royal $ 28,450

The Royal tops the Wollemi with a larger and smarter fridge. We have opted at this level for a 75 ltr Autofridge. This fridge uses an eutectic system of cooling, i.e. a compressor cools the coolant inside the fridge walls. You let the compressor run for 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the evening and the rest of the time use it as an ice box. The electricity consumption is then a mere 18 AH in a 24 hour period, about a third of the elctricity a conventional fridge of this size uses. This set up reduces the requirements in battery and solar panel size. The fridge comes with a custom made heavy duty fridge slide.

 

All trailers above are available as 8 foot rear fold, 9 foot side fold or 12 foot side fold.

 

You can upgrade all equipment levels to a walk in trailer for the 9 or 12 foot side folds. Independent suspension is also available for all trailers. We can upgrade the standard off road trailer to an even more heavy duty design, going to a chassis to 50 x 50 x 3 mm, a 100 x 50 x 3 mm drawbar and 7 leaf outback rebound springs.
